New Mexico Angel Investors Partner with Rockies Venture Club
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ALBUQUERQUE (September 16, 2020)—With over $20 million invested in New Mexico and the Southwest over the past 20 years, the New Mexico Angels (NMA) are leaders in local entrepreneurialism. Now, the Angels are expanding their influence even further. In celebration of their 20th year, New Mexico Angels are affiliating with the Rockies Venture Club (RVC), linking two of the longest-running Angel investor groups in the nation. The Angels also have a new board of directors, a group of excited and dedicated professionals that are ready to guide the impact of investment in our state.
Affiliation with RVC offers New Mexico Angel members greatly expanded qualified investment opportunities as well as access to premium networking events. RVC is one of the largest and most active investment groups with over 200 accredited investors reviewing more than 1,500 deals per year.
“On both sides of the equation, New Mexico will benefit from this affiliation. The breadth of investment opportunities will expand by 10X for New Mexico investors, while viable New Mexico innovative start-ups will be exposed to about 5X times the number of accredited investors,” said Sherman McCorkle, Chairman of the Board for the New Mexico Angels.
“Rockies Venture Club is thrilled to affiliate with New Mexico Angels. We view this as an excellent opportunity from every angle: investors, entrepreneurs, communities—everybody wins with a partnership like this,” said Dave Harris, Director of Operations at Rockies Venture Club.
RVC also has syndicated investors throughout the U.S. and 45% of RVC’s portfolio is led by women or people of color. They host over 140 events annually, including workshops for investors and entrepreneurs, and the annual Angel Capital Summit and Colorado Capital Conference. New Mexico Angels will partner with RVC to host investor meetings and events in New Mexico.
While this pandemic has created challenges for all industries, the New Mexico Angels are ready to move forward and continue engaging and investing in our State and region. The Angels are reopening for business beginning October 1st, 2020, and are proud to announce their new board and announce a new president soon.
